As we continue to work on with our data, we lately realize that we need a more personalized data server or storage system designed specifically for our need. Storage server can be Nas or SAN. You might be wondering what these letters mean.
NAS - these letters stand for network attached storage. This data storage system is connected to a certain computer network and will provide data access and it has gained popularity in 2010 because it is easy to configure and users can access data fast. It consists of a NAS unit that is connected to the network. Administering your NAS server allow you to control using a browser within the network.
SAN - SAN or Isci San network storage on the other hand is a storage server using an internet protocol. This means that transmitting data using this storage server is made possible using LAN, WAN, or the Internet. Running an iscsi san remotely is possible using your existing network facilities.
For the benefits of those who are not yet decided which one to use, both servers have the ability to provide storage and file system. Although these are two different storage server, one can use both and create a SAN-NAS hybrid wherein they will enjoy both the file-level and block-level protocol.
