As I consider changing vocations, I will have to consider the commute time and distance- especially during these times of economic struggles. It's an employer's market right now, and they're going to take advantage of it. I actually feel for employers who now have to go through so many applications to fill a job. Anyway, it seems to me that a good way to get started in a new career field, and especially one that involves a job with during a long commute, is Audio books on cd. During all those tedious miles you can be learning new stuff that will make you sound informed and knowledgeable on many subjects. Then you can make a great impression on potential employers and others. Another great way to learn a new occupation is to Rent books. At your local Book renta place, you can get books on many vocational subjects and general learning. Next thing you know, you're changing jobs, and to a field that is new and exciting (at least for now). Speaking of audio books and rental, I found a website where they you can rent unlimited paperback and children's books. At booksfree.com, you can rent audiobooks on CD, MP3-CD format audiobooks.
