Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 Digital Camera

Oh my goodness, I'm so happy today. My Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 digital camera finally arrived this afternoon. When dear hubby came home today from work, he handed me this beautiful camera :-) We ordered it online on Sunday, July 27 and 3 days later, the camera is finally mine! What I love about the Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 camera is that, it has the adapter and lens hood certainly enhances the "holdability" of this camera, at the expense of size and style. I can't wait to use this camera, and probably get some lenses soon!

I take a lot of photos so I also got the Memory Stick DUO memory card for more memory space. I paid $24.99 for it. We had a $15 off coupon so we only paid $304.

Product Description:

8.1 megapixels: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10/B digital camera gives you photo-quality, 300dpi images up to 8" x 10", and good-quality 200dpi images up to 12" x 16". The 8.1-megapixel Super HAD™ CCD image sensor allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity while reducing noise.

Carl Zeiss® 5X Optical Zoom Lens: 5X optical zoom gives you the power to get even closer to the action -- a real benefit for distant landscape views and dramatic portraits.

3.0” LCD display: The Clear Photo LCD Plus™ display features an anti-reflective coating to help you compose, view, and share photos with superb clarity and color—even in bright sunlight.

Optical image stabilizer: Super SteadyShot® optical image stabilization features a built-in gyro sensor that detects camera movement and sends correcting signals to a stabilization lens. Sharp, clear images are the result.

High ISO support: Able to shoot with a light sensitivity of up to ISO 3200, this camera can handle less than ideal lighting conditions. High ISO also means that the image sensor can handle short exposures to light, allowing fast shutter speeds that prevent blur due to camera shake or moving subjects.

Face detection: Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces controlling white balance, exposure, focus and flash to deliver accurate, natural skin tones with reduced red-eye for beautiful images of family and friends. Face Detection can even distinguish between children and adults, so you can ensure your children are the focal point.

9-point auto focus: Because an off-center subject can make your shot more interesting, the DSC-H10/B can measure auto-focus precision at nine points on your screen—giving you greater creative freedom to compose your image.

In-camera retouching: Add creative effects to your photos—without a PC. Trim images, adjust red-eye, soften focus, add lens effects and more.

Dual aspect ratios: Shoot using the standard 4:3 aspect ratio, or easily switch to a high-resolution 16:9 widescreen view that will look fantastic when viewed on your HDTV. Even after you’ve taken the picture, you can change the aspect ratio or resize images inside this smart camera.

HD slide show with music: Photos are more entertaining to watch on the big screen when accompanied by your choice of visual effects and favorite songs downloaded from your PC.

Image optimization: Dynamic Range Optimization preserves image data in bright highlights and reveals more detail in shadows or backlit areas—for great results even in difficult lighting conditions.

Easy shooting mode: Want to keep things simple? Easy Shooting provides easy-to-read, on-screen instructions and limits the number of settings while still providing excellent results.

Photo modes: Choose your mode, and this camera automatically adjusts settings such as shutter speed, flash and focus to adapt to the situation. This camera features several modes, including twilight, landscape, snow, beach and more.

Burst shooting mode: Shoot at speeds of up to three frames per second—great for capturing an action sequence.

Shoot movies: When a picture isn’t enough, you can take VGA-quality MPEG movies at a smooth 30 frames per second.

Stamina® battery power: With its lithium-ion rechargeable battery, the DSC-H10/B can capture enough images for a long weekend.

Memory: This digital camera comes with 31MB of internal memory.

The Sony H10 provides the versatile shooting modes we have all come to expect:
* Auto: For point-and-shoot purposes.
* Program: For point-and-shoot purposes with some user overrides.
* Manual: Permits user control of both shutter speed and aperture.
* Movie: The H10 shoots movies with sound at up to 640x480/30 fps.
* Scene: Six scene preset options, including Sony's Soft Snap portrait mode, are available.

Hi, I was just wondering how the Sony H10 is working out for you, and if it's able to take good pics of your kids in action (especially indoors). I just came across this site in my research on the h10, so I just thought I would ask someone who actually owns it. My main concern is getting non-blurry pics of kids and it being true to color (especially on people). Thanks in advance! stsmith76@hotmail.com

10X optical zoom (not 5x as stated above). I just got one of these cameras. It is awesome. Thanks Sony.
